And a new Doctor may be in.
The Doctor has been around for quite a long time, 48 years to be precise (over a thousand by his counting), and it looks like number 11 is thinking it’s about time to move on. Matt Smith has mentioned in a recent interview that after series 7 he’ll be coming to America to try to make a start in Hollywood, leaving the Tardis door open for a twelfth Doctor.
As of yet BBC has not confirmed that there is even an 8th series, or that Matt Smith will indeed be leaving, but it is something to think about. With the 50th anniversary not to far way, it may be an interesting time for someone new to take up the sonic screwdriver.
So who would you like to see play the next Doctor? Someone older? Younger? Scottish? Irish? Tell us!

I’d love to see Neil Gaiman play the Doctor. He’s a wicked writer, but he’s also strange and wonderful. He could totally play the alien part of the Doctor so well.
