The Trailer: Crysis 3

Check out Crytek’s latest visual awesomeness.

I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again, Crysis 2 was a beautiful game. Sure, I didn’t play it on a fancy PC, but my Xbox 360 did just fine. The only problem I had with the game was the story. The hook for me was the graphical power of CryENGINE, and this time around Crytek is raising the stakes again. New York City has been transformed into a literal urban jungle by the Cell Corporation, and Prophet must do what he does best, and eliminate whatever threat comes his way. The good news is, in Crysis 3 he’ll be getting some cool new weaponry, starting with a composite bow and going all the way up to some interesting new tech, possibly Ceph or Cell related. But the important thing is this game is even more beautiful than it’s predecessor, if that’s at all possible.

The trick will be if the story is worth it. This trailer shows very little of story elements, and is mainly a tech demo showing off what the CryENGINE can do. Word is that Prophet is on a revenge mission, trying to take down the Cell Corporation for what they’ve done by installing the “Liberty Dome”. Honestly, I hope there’s more to it than that, and more than just conspiracy stuff. For now we’ll have to wait until spring 2013 to get our hands on Crysis 3.
