Is SG-1 coming back in a new way?
This past weekend was the Official Stargate Convention in Vancouver, and besides being incredibly sad to have missed it (I went two years ago) I did manage to scope some hefty news from [GateWorld]. According to Darren Thomas, a Los Angeles producer attached to Ordino Studios, he’s been working with MGM to bring and SG-1 based app to phones, tablets, and smart devices. Here’s a portion of the news released from the Stargate Facebook page:
Fans were treated to previously unreleased news about MGM’s collaboration on a new SG-1 App designed for smart phones and tablets. The scoop from Thomas is that MGM is reviving SG-1 albeit in a new format — music to the ears of many fans around the world. Thomas didn’t want to divulge more, but he did say that “plans are underway and I wish I could tell you more. The good news is that we will be unveiling something big at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego.” But in the meantime stay tuned for more information right here on the SG-1 official MGM page.
Just what is this “something big at this year’s Comic-Con”? Most likely this isn’t going to be an actual live-action revival of the series, but does this announcement involve the aforementioned app, or is this something different? Also, given Stargate‘s track record for things that aren’t television or movies, I’m not sure what we are to expect. Two separate video games for the franchise were cancelled, so what can we expect from this?
Looks like we’ll have to wait and see. Keep your eyes and ears open gaters.
