In terms of Statham versus Segel, Segel ended up winning, but neither took the box office by storm. Topping the charts for the second week in a row was Think Like a Man, which was followed by the claymation adventure The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The Hunger Games held strong in third, beating out The Lucky One which fell two spots from second to fourth. The next three spots were populated by the newcomers, The Five-Year Engagement, Safe, and The Raven, taking 5, 6, and 7 respectively. Those three forced numbers 4, 5, and 6 of last week to drop down to 8, 9, and 10. Those films would be Chimpanzee, The Three Stooges, and The Cabin in the Woods.

Wondering if Safe is worth the price of admission? Check out our 10 words or less [review] and decide for yourself.

In other movie news, a small little film hits theaters this Friday called The Avengers. I’m still unclear as to why it premiered overseas since it’s all about American heroes (and Thor), but The Avengers finally come home this week. So, do you think it will beat out The Hunger Games premiere weekend earnings? Place your best ladies and gentlemen. I’m going to say yes. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see. Be sure to check out our review Friday morning, and as always, stay cool moviegoers.
