It’s never been a better time to join PlayStation Plus.
Sony showed off quite a bit of goodness last night, of which included The Last of Us and Quantic Dream’s latest Beyond, but one of the more interesting things that they happened to mention was the fact that they would be expanding the digital swag that PlayStation Plus members have access too. In the past, a few games a month, mostly PSN and PSOne titles, were available for free for Plus members, but Sony upped the awesomeness by including full-fledged PS3 games as part of your new Instant Game Collection.
We’re not talking about the lower scoring PS3 titles here. Sony is offering triple-A gaming here, for free. FREE! Okay, well technically the cost of membership per month, which is less than $5. Starting right now you can download inFamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, and Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One for nothing. Do you see Microsoft doing this? I don’t think so.
This is all a part of Sony’s continuing mission to appease the PlayStation Nation, and make sure they know just how much they appreciate their fans for sticking with them for 17 years. Honestly, not a bad way of saying thank you. Though if you happened to be in the audience at last night’s conference you did get a better thank you in the form of one year of PlayStation Plus free.
So what titles can we expect to see in the future? Considering the first crop of games available for free are some pretty decent titles (and mirror those Sony offered during their post-blackout apology), I think we might see some other pretty good titles in the future. Sony has promised a lot more to come and to keep your Instant Game Collection growing, which is fine by me.
Thank goodness I got that 320GB PS3.
