I’m not sure why there’s a fourth Ice Age movie, but I could have told you that it was going to land at number 1. Animated kids’ movies usually do that. Still, number 4? Really? Following Continental Drift was The Amazing Spider-Man, pushing it just north of $200 million domestic. With the insertion of Ice Age 4 came the fall of every other movie by one spot. Ted, Brave, Savages, Magic Mike, and Madea’s Witness Protection all fell one spot this past weekend. Katy Perry proved that she was indeed a firework, holding steady with Moonrise Kingdom at 8 and 9. Lastly, to compensate for Continental Drift, Madagascar 3 dropped the bottom of the top 10. And no Red Lights anywhere in sight.

Be sure to check out our review for Moonrise Kingdom before the The Dark Knight Rises this Friday. I have a strong suspicion that Nolan’s final Dark Knight film will take the box office this coming weekend, which is probably why there are practically no new films to oppose it. It’s like everyone knows it would be the stupidest idea to face up against Batman. Keep a lookout for our review of The Dark Knight Rises this Friday, but I bet you already know what the review is going to be. Stay cool moviegoers.
