Shaken Not Stirred: James Bond Is Back

Skyfall returns to classic Bond, and that’s a good thing.

If we were to call Daniel Craig’s James Bond a reboot for the character, then the same would have to be said for Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, and Roger Moore (and I guess George Lazenby too). But for the most part they all followed the same formula, just adding in their own styles. Daniel Craig’s Bond is much more hands on, but the stories are still mostly the same, or at least that was the case for Casino Royale (mostly). While Quantum of Solace may have strayed from that path a bit further, Skyfall looks to return Craig and Bond to the man we know. There will be a classic villain in the form of Javier Bardem’s Silva. We have a new and younger Q. And Bond girls, action, and being strapped to a chair while a villain spills his plan. Yup, the good old days. It all comes together in the full length trailer for Skyfall below.

Just what did Silva mean when he said “the two survivors”? Was he another MI6 agent who’s identity was unveiled? Was he 006? This film definitely seems to be drawing from previous Ian Fleming stories like You Only Live Twice and maybe a bit of GoldenEye. So let’s recap: Bond declared dead. Someone out for M. Voldemort working for MI6? Yeah, Skyfall is going to awesome once it arrives in October.

Oh, and here’s Britain’s number one secret agent escorting the Queen to the Opening Ceremony of this year’s Summer Olympics.
