Prepare for dogs and cats living together, and mass hysteria.
Just when you thought life was good, and that your childhood memories couldn’t be rewritten anymore (okay, no actually believes this) Ivan Reitman has to go and ruin everything. Reitman is one of the creators of Ghostbusters, that awesome 80s film starring Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and Dan Aykroyd as paranormal investigators out to save the world. When he was recently asked whether or not Ghostbusters 3 would ever actually be made he mentioned that he was finally coming to terms with the fact that it’s DOA (mostly because of Bill Murray), and then he let this slip:
I think Ghostbusters probably should be remade, if we can get it all right. We’re working on it, so we’ll see.
Cue the Darth Vader “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” There is absolutely nothing wrong with the original Ghostbusters, thus there is no reason to have it be remade. The original cast did an amazing job and it’s one of my favorite movies, especially around Halloween. So why, why on Earth would one of the original creators want to remake it? What possible reason could he have for this? Has he finally succumbed to Gozer’s will?
Whatever the reason, I hope this doesn’t happen. If Ghostbusters isn’t sacred, then nothing is.
